Fishing in the South of France: Canal du Midi, Aude River, and sea trips
Childhood memories of family fishing
When you live in Occitanie, you canât ignore the countless fishing spots scattered across the region. Whether along the Canal du Midi, on the banks of the Aude River, near the lagoons, or even deep-sea fishing from Narbonne, every outing offers a new adventure.
Crayfish fishing: a simple childhood joy
Every time we walk along the Canal du Midi with my immersion students and I see fishermen, it takes me back to my childhood memories: those Sundays spent with my family fishing together. My favorite moment? Crawfish fishing. It was so simple and fun: just a string, a small bait, and the crayfish would cling on without hesitation.
Growing up: fishing as an art of living
Picnics by the pond and sunshine moments
Wine, books, and the charm of doing nothing
As I grew older, fishing took on a whole new meaning. It wasnât really about catching fish anymore, but about the whole experience: the picnic by the pond, the joy of reading a good book, the warmth of the sun, or a glass of white wine shared with friends. Fishing became almost an excuse to enjoy life slowly â and thatâs probably what makes it so special.
With Benjamin, we thought it might be nice to get our boat license. We could have a little fishing afternoon with the girls and my immersion students who would like. Even though I have a strong intuition that if we rent a boat for an outing it will be more to enjoy a little meal in the sun while sipping a glass of wine. But who knows⊠It could be really nice.
